ABOUT US

The aim and purpose of the UTM MSA is to serve the best interest of Islam and of the Muslims at the University of Toronto at Mississauga. Our aim and purpose is to promote unity and joint action and Islamic Awareness among the Muslims; arrange and hold congregational prayers; conduct religious, social, cultural, and other activities in the best traditions of Islam; promote friendly relations between Muslims and non-Muslims; endeavor to make Islamic teachings known to interested non-Muslims; encourage Muslims to contribute individually and collectively toward meeting the human needs in conformity with the teachings of Islam; avoid any wrong practices which are contrary to Islam and to create a feeling of brotherhood and sisterhood on this campus.

Vision for the 2009/10: One of our goals this year is to provide more learning opportunities for Muslims and non-Muslims on campus. We want to create an academic environment in which students can learn about Islam – through weekly halaqahs, lectures etc. We will also encourage on-campus involvement in order to develop Muslim leaders. Lastly UTM MSA would like to collaborate on events with other clubs and focus on the universal values in Islam; values such as compassion and mercy that are inherent in all faiths.
